How you order a bike

Pricing of a made-to-measure Monkee bike

Building bikes by hand will always be a lot more expensive than ordering an off-the-shelf bike from one of the global manufacturers. On top of that you will have to wait some time before you get your on your custom Monkee bike. Why? Because we challenge ourselves with every built and do our utmost to fulfill exactly your dream and our vision of the perfect bike for you, doing basically everything from scratch. There will never be two identical bikes leaving our garage.

Pricing a Monkee bike is not just a question of the initial donor bike. Your choice of donor bike and engine is basicly a matter of what bike origin you dig and how much cubic supremacy you desire. To us it’s all the same. We put the same passion and craftsmanship into the project whether you choose a no-name or high profiled bike. We create every single one of our Monkees with exactly the same love and affection.

If you are looking for a part rebuild or cut-rate project, we are not in a position to service you. We center our efforts on creating purebred Monkees with as few compromises as possible.

Monkee # bikes – based on contemporary engines

Ordering a hand build bike from the Wrenchmonkees is fairly simple. We have a range of preferred contemporary models we build on but we also love new challenges. We can also rebuild old-timers and classics. But as a customer you will initially get more "design" value for your money by choosing a contemporary donor bike that doesn’t need a complete engine rebuild and can be serviced easily by ordinary mechanics from Pennsylvania to Papua New Guinea.

Monkee # bikes – based on vintage engines

If you have a passion for custom bikes based on older models, it would be our pleasure to build you your dream bike. In our motorcycle gallery you can see examples of several bikes based on models back from the 1950´s up until the early 1980´s.

In general, it is worth mentioning that building a custom bike based on older models most often becomes a more cost full affair because the engines often need in-depth restoration and completely new electrical wiring. Cheap old school donor bikes therefore seldom transform themselves into inexpensive custom bikes. What you do get from an old school donor bike is a significant vintage feel and more creative options for transformations in frame, seat etc., enabling a more unique and individual look.

The typical process when we go to work on a vintage donor bikes is that we start out by stripping down the bike and creating a mock-up. Then we go to work on renovating the engine or parts of the engine. We make new wiring and replace all relevant spare parts. We substitute or renovate the carburetors. We replace or surface treat axles, spindles, nuts, bolts, brackets, rims, hubs etc. when necessary. When this part of the process is done we go to work on the final creation part.

Because each custom project is individual and unique prices differ very much depending on the client’s desire in regards to design, materials, spare parts, donor bike etc.

A vintage Monkee bike can come at several price levels but is in general a more expensive choice than the contemporary alternative. As mentioned, the price depends wholly on the client’s ambitions.

Prices – based on vintage engines

We build very simple vintage custom bikes at a total cost of 15.000 Euro, but also create bikes worth 30.000 Euro. It all depends on our client’s ambitions and choices plus the condition of the donor bike.
